Have you ever considered the question: Will the clothing industry trigger an environmental disaster? This is not an unfounded worry. With the rapid development of the fast fashion, garbage is piling up like a mountain. The harm of using pesticides on cotton to the environment is self-evident.

Some people may think that old-fashioned blue jeans made of cotton denim outperform the current trend of synthetic fiber fabrics, but this is not the case. Linda Greer, Director of the Health Program of the United States Natural Resources Protection Council, explained, "The treatment of cotton denim requires crushing with machinery and adding water, oxygen, chemical agents, etc., while solid waste is different. Only a small amount of solid waste requires such treatment."

Fortunately, some clothing companies with a strong sense of social responsibility are making continuous efforts to reduce the negative impact on the environment in the process, and perhaps in some ways, alleviate consumers' sense of guilt. For example, they use garbage, traceable materials, and organic cotton as raw materials to make clothes. Under pressure from green environmental organizations, many fashion brands have already begun to take action, including Swedish fashion retailer H&M, sports brands Puma, Adidas, and others.

Now, Freitag, an environmental bag company from Zurich, Switzerland, has made new progress! The company, known for recycling waste truck waterproof sheets, was the first to launch environmentally friendly bags, and recently launched a biodegradable pair of jeans. This type of jeans is made from linen, cotton flax blended fabric, yarn spun fabric, and woven fabric, with a minimum chemical content and no bleaching.

Polyester threads, metal buttons, and rivets used in traditional denim clothing are also difficult to degrade. Freitag has solved this problem by inventing a non spiral button and biodegradable thread.
